Kindle Vella boasts “new features that allow readers to interact with your story,” but these are actually limited to standardized interactions that include follows, likes, and faves. In other words: no comments, unfortunately. Authors, however, may leave an “Author’s Note” at the end of each episode to share additional thoughts, insights, or manage story expectations.
There are also mechanisms that allow the author to let the reader guide the story - and that is the basis for a future set of novels.
The Dancing Life is based on a screenplay written fifteen years ago that needed, to put it mildly, a major rewrite. The core of the story is solid, though, and it is one that deserves to be told.
Depending on the novel's reception on Vella, the novel will be released in the traditional paperback, hardcover, and Kindle e-book formats. It may also be released in EPUB format via other retailers. That determination will be made at a later date. Also to be decided is whether the remaining two novels of the trilogy will follow the same model or be released as a full novel.
